fashion friday

I recently took the plunge & ordered some goodies from Forever 21's online store. I am so not liking this whole Forever 21 on steroids business!!! For some reason every store around me has tripled in size. Initially, I was ecstatic more square footage more fantastically cheap clothes but NO... it’s so overwhelming & anxiety inducing. It’s just too much && i don’t really see any theme or organization. So I decided to try my luck online and to my surprise the site is pretty well organized :) One of the downsides of ordering online is that you can’t really check out the quality and well with forevee 21 I wasn’t really expecting much. So, I just kinda ordered some basic stuff like belts & cardis. The shopping experience was great & the shipping was free && it arrived the next day!! ((They ship out of Los Angeles. )) Oh another bummer, was that they don’t pay for return shipping but it was okay since i didn’t need to return anything.

Lace Knit Top $12.80

Woven Leatherette Belt $6.80

Leatherette Braided Belt $4.80

Cardis $11.50 each

Braided Belt $3.50

p.s thank you for all of your kind words on my previous post :) HUGS!

cookies, meds & OCD

Last week, I met with a new psychiatrist. For the first time in two years, I feel like someone actually listened to me and told me the truth. I’ve been fighting a lot of battles and I won’t burden you with my problems but lately depression has been the BIGGEST demon in my life. Depression has held me back from doing a lot things that I used to love like going out with friends, spending time with my family, and even working. I’ve been stuck at home in my own little world for far too long and i’m glad that I finally reached out for help. Now, the dr put me on an antidepressant && i can’t seem to slow down or even keep my mouth shut. I’m thinking that this dosage is not right for me... my depression has now been replaced with cleaning & baking obsessively!! LOL I did make some yummy cookies tho !! My hubster is def not complaining.

UK Love : The Original i-Divine Palette

It is no secret that the UK is home to some of the most outstanding make up brands like Illamasqua & Make up Forever. Thankfully for us Americans, these brands have made it across the pond and into our local Sephoras. I recently, did a swapsies (click for blog post) with a UK based beauty blogger. Now, it has come to my attention that the UK is keeping some amazing make up all to themselves!! Luckily for me, Kelly from the Perfect Pout was gracious enough to share with me some of the UK’s best kept secrets. She sent some Sleek palettes. First off, the colors are beautiful & the color pay off is BA-NA-NAS (a la’ rachel zoe)!!

Behold the Original i-Divine Palette
by Sleek MakeUP

The packaging is a study hard plastic & it houses twelve individual eyeshadow shades for the retail price of $10.00. The shadows are mineral-based and are described on the website as having a “velvet touch” consistency. The colors are vibrant and have great staying power. The palette also has a mirror & a double ended sponge applicator.

(swatches top left to bottom right)

If you would like to purchase the palette u can find it at the sleek make UP website. Only bummer is that US shipping is $13.50 :(

Review: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse

Loving the texture of this foundation it’s very light and dries to a powder. The formula really keeps the skin looking hydrated & fresh. Unfortunately, I have been cursed with flakies around my nose and parts of my cheeks, it’s a HOT MESS, but the foundation really camouflages these bad areas. The coverage is light to medium & I use a damp cosmestic sponge to apply. The products claims to not clog pores & personally I haven't experienced any break outs :) The foundation also doesn't have any spf! so no worries at picture time. I'm wearing the foundation in 240 pure beige. I feel that the shades tend to lean more towards the yellow side perfect for my NC30-35 skin.

I do have some issues tho’ my face tends to get a little shiny at around the four hour mark so I keep some MAC blot powder handy. Also, i’m not liking the packaging it’s bulky. Would have liked to see this product in a compact like the MAC studio tech foundation. The top compartment of the foundation houses a useless sponge applicator. The bottom portion twists off and holds the foundation

.49 ounces Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse $7.99 @ Target
(.35 ounces MAC studio tech $29.50)

Rating 4/5 (packaging sucks!)

what are your thoughts on this foundation??

What's in my DVR

Not gunna lie, I shamelessly stole this idea from fellow beauty blogger
Miss Kimmy over at Kimber Doll check her out! :)

WEEDS

If you are not familiar with this show.. i’m sorry we can’t be friends! j/k. this show is AMAZEBALLS. It’s been on since 2005, it follows the life of a suburban mother who becomes a widow and has to find a way to support her family. So, she opts to do the most practical thing and decides to deal weed. She starts growing marijuana and accidentally burns her town down, then starts a new life in san diego, gets romantically involved with the mayor of Tijuana who is also the head of a drug cartel, gets married and has his child, then goes on the run after her son kills his campaign manager. That should bring you up to speed to the current season. The show airs on Showtime & I highly recommend this show!!

Rosario Tijeras

It’s a Colombian novela, mini series, based on a Book written by Jorge Franco. The story chronicles the life of a girl who was raped at an early age then raped again several years later. She goes after the guy that raped her and chops off his balls, thus acquiring the nickname “Tijeras,” which translates to scissors. She gets involved with a Colombian drug cartel and becomes a hitman. She also has an interesting love triangle with two upperclass bachelors. The novela is in spanish but there is also a movie with the same name directed by Emilio Maille’that has english subtitles & the book is also available in english :) It airs on Telefutura :)

Keeping up with the Kardashians

I mainly watch this show because I’m in love with what Khloe, Kourtney, & Kim wear. Even Kris Jenner rocks Louboutins & Chanel. OOoh and i love when the Camera pans out to show their bathroom and reveals their make up stash! They all have the “clear cube storage” thing that I’m in love with but is wayyy too expensive for me to buy.

Teen Mom

This a reality tv show that follows the lives of four pregnant teenagers, who were previously on 16 and pregnant. It follows all of their struggles from trying to make ends meet to keeping relationships with their friends, family, and significant others. My favorite teen mom is Farrah :) The show airs on MTV

Jersey Shore

I love how this show is all kinds of CRAZY. I’m addicted && I’ve gotten my husband into it. I’m not sure if you all know this or not but my husband grew up in Mexico. He came to the US in the middle of his high school years so American culture is still pretty new to him. At first, he was like “where are they from how come they don’t speak english?!” LOL i didn’t even know where to start! He loves the show now :) The show airs on MTV

So, what shows are you loving???
